Bio for Dave Glowacz

Dave Glowacz began working as an independent journalist in the early 1990s. His writing has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun-Times, the Daily Herald, the Chicago Reader, other Chicagoland newspapers, and national magazines. His articles covered new technology, environment, telecommunications, law enforcement, and elections.

In 1998 Dave authored a non-fiction paperback titled Urban Bikers’ Tricks & Tips, which in 2010 came out in a revised third edition and has sold over 20,000 copies worldwide. Dave has also authored award-winning bicycling safety publications for state and local governments across North America.

In 2007 Dave focused his journalism on government accountability, and expanded his reporting to broadcast media. His radio reports have aired in Chicagoland on WBEZ-FM, WVON-AM, WCPT-AM, and on public radio stations across the U.S. His reporting has also appeared in Block Club Chicago and The Daily Line.

Dave’s honors include a Lisagor Award for in-depth reporting from the Chicago Headline Club, and a fellowship from the Knight Digital Media Center at the University of California (Berkeley) School of Journalism.
